The Day of the Lord Is a Day of Shaking!

Isaiah the prophet foretold what would be happening in the world on “the Day of the Lord.” Besides the return of the Lord when He returns  to earth to reign and to rule  in the last of the last days, I also suspect that Isaiah was also foreshadowed the  3 days of the Lord’s crucifixion and resurrection from the dead.  Rather than paraphrase or summarize this powerful prophecy, as you read, imagine that you are hearing the great prophet speak directly to you:

For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up—and he shall be brought low”
13 and upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 and upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up;
15 and upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall;
16 and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant sights.
17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day,
18 and the idols He shall utterly abolish.
19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
20 In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold (which he made each one for himself to worship) to the moles and to the bats,
21 to go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the Lord and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?

Notice that I have highlighted that Isaiah used the word “ariseth.”  Where did the Lord ARISE from?  Well, He arose from the dead.

To explain this further, we need to also check out the gospel of Matthew.

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
Matthew 27:50-54

It is amazing how brief and non-descriptive Matthew presents one of the most startling, earth-shaking account of the most monumental 3 days.  In three rather crisp, non-reactive lines, Matthew casually informs us that there was a mighty earthquake that destroyed the Jewish temple, that the graves of dead saints were dislodged by that very earthquake, and that these very same saints were raised from the dead and were seen by the populace walking the streets in Jerusalem.

Hollywood has done a lot better than Matthew with the climatic earthquake scene in Ben Hur, with the compelling music, the dramatic healing of Ben Hur’s mother and sister from leprosy, but no where in the movie are we shown the terror and shaking of the real events that took place when the temple was destroyed and the saints came out of their graves.

Nevertheless, we DO have the account of one of Matthew’s contemporaries, Pontius Pilate, the Roman who ordered the Lord’s crucifixion, in a form of a letter Pilate sent to the Roman Emperor, as found in the document called “the Lost Books of the Bible:”

Now when Jesus was crucified darkness came over all the world; the sun was altogether hidden, and the sky appeared dark while it was yet day, so that the stars were seen, though still they had their lustre obscured, wherefore, I suppose your excellency is not unaware that in all the world they lighted their lamps from the sixth hour until evening. And the moon, which was like blood, did not shine all night long, although it was at the full, and the stars and Orion made lamentation over the Jews, because of the transgression committed by them.

And on the first day of the week, about the third hour of the night, the sun appeared as it never shone before, and the whole heaven became bright. And as lightnings come in a storm, so certain men of lofty stature, in beautiful array, and of indescribable glory, appeared in the air, and a countless host of angels, crying out and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will among men:

Come up from Hades, ye who are in bondage in the depths of Hades. And at their voice all the mountains and hills were moved, and the rocks were rent, and great chasms were made in the earth, so that the very places of the abyss were visible.

And amid the terror dead men were seen rising again, so that the Jews who saw it said, We beheld Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob, and the twelve patriarchs, who died some two thousand five hundred years before, and we beheld Noah clearly in the body. And all the multitude walked about and sang hymns to God with a loud voice, saying, The Lord our God, who hath risen from the dead, hath made alive all the dead, and Hades he hath spoiled and slain.

Therefore, my lord king, all that night the light ceased not. But many of the Jews died, and were sunk and swallowed up in the chasms that night, so that not even their bodies were to be seen. Now I mean, that those of the Jews suffered who spake against Jesus. And but one synagogue remained in Jerusalem, for all the synagogues which had been against Jesus were overwhelmed.
Through that terror, therefore, being amazed and being seized with great trembling, in that very hour, I ordered what had been done by them all to be written, and I have sent it to thy mightiness.

There is coming yet a continuation of the manifestation of the rising of the dead when the Lord returns to earth—-a shaking not just of Jerusalem but of the entire earth.  The earthquakes at the end are going to open up all graveyards where any saint is buried, anywhere in the world.  When the Lord was raised, the known world was able to continue as before because the earthquakes were local.  When He returns to open the graves, the earthquakes will be EVERYWHERE there is a cemetery.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Notwithstanding, I suspect everywhere there is a church preaching a false gospel, creating false converts—- will be destroyed.  Why?  Because Pilot also reported that every enemy of the Lord’s that took part in any aspect of His crucifixion, was buried in the chasm  or the deep holes created in the ground by those earthquakes, and that only ONE Jewish temple was left standing.  He stated in his letter to the Emperor that every religious  enemy of the Lord was destroyed within that 3 day span.

Are you ready for the shaking?  Yes, we are in for a shaking that this earth has not seen the likes of since the days of Noah!!!  Here what the Lord Himself had to say about that!!!!!

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24:36-44 –

We may not know the day or hour, but I believe we who are watching and prepared will know the year, perhaps even the month.  I have been watching since 9/11/01.  Are you prepared?  Are you in good hands?  RESCUE FELLOWSHIP ONLINE is here to prepare you.
